We would like to convey our thanks to everyone for donating in memory of Philip Rushby to aid us in our work at The Donkey Sanctuary.
We hope it will bring some comfort that the memory of Philip will live on through these donations. This support today helps us to look after donkeys in our care at sanctuaries across the UK and Europe and reach out to donkeys in desperate need around the world.
On behalf of donkeys everywhere, thank you. Our thoughts are with you.

Grandad, growing up you inspired most of the things I have loved throughout my life, from my love of rock and roll and 50s/60s music and instruments and how important family is just to name a few, we would be here till next week if I listed everything you influenced in my life. I am blessed to be able to share your middle name and I passed that on to my son it meant so much to me. You were always there for me when I didn't know what to do or I'd made a dumb decision. you taught me that love is powerful and the best way to live is to be loving. I remember trips to the sea side as a kid going on rides with you even though you didn't want to but you wanted us to have fun and nan made you. The time your broke our trampoline showing us how to do a butt drop and went straight through it, before we got to have a go on it, playing pool and darts at your house and raiding your fridge and you'd tell me to get more chocolates and get you a pepsi every time, always being lucky enough to be your partner when we did anything as a team. The silly pranks and jokes you'd pull on us like pretending to be ET at the window when looking after us to scare me and nan threatening you with the wooden spoon. You lived a long happy life surrounded with love from your family at every turn. You never understood technology but you understood and showed us all what is important in life. Your love stretched beyond family, growing up me and my friends would come see you and you would treat all of them the same as treated me even when we were all as we all became adults, I know you had an impact on more people than anyone could ever understand. All of your family and especially your grand children adored you, you were just so amazing, there could never have been enough time with you even if you had lived forever.
When I look in the mirror or at my son I see you and although it pains me that you're not here anymore it makes me happy that you live on in all of us.
I love you grandad. One last time until we meet again; Good shot grandad.

A tug of war we played with the angels,
We couldnt let you go,
But then you said your tired,
It had to be so,
We all took turns in holding your hands,
But finally it was time,
You looked and reassured us that you would be fine,
We lost the head of the family that day,
The angels won the war,
But in our hearts and thoughts forever you will always stay.
